CHANTILLY, Va., July 16, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — AMERICAN SYSTEMS, a leading provider of federal IT and engineering solutions, today announced the appointment of John Steckel as Vice President of Business Development. In this role, Steckel will oversee business development (BD) efforts including identifying new customers, conducting effective capture strategies and developing winning proposals.

Steckel possesses more than 16 years of direct BD leadership experience in the federal sector in addition to a decade in marketing and P&L roles. Prior to joining AMERICAN SYSTEMS, Steckel was Senior Vice President at Vencore (now part of Perspecta), where he was responsible for leading business development, capture, and proposal development teams. Prior to his tenure at Vencore, he held BD positions at Raytheon and BAE Systems after 10 years in B-to-B and B-to-C marketing and operational roles at several companies including FedEx and PepsiCo. Steckel served 21 years in the United States Navy and United Stated Naval Reserves as a P-3C Orion Naval Flight Officer.

He earned a Bachelor of Science from the United States Naval Academy and an MBA from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
