There’s always been this steadfast rule in American politics: Any United States congressman or senator outside of the United States should not say bad things about the President of the United States. John McCain stood by that policy all through the Barack Obama years. He traveled often, even meeting with opposition in Syria that would soon make up the core that started ISIS. He did all of this, while never slamming or even criticizing President Obama while OUTSIDE of the United States.

Now Senator John McCain has broken with that tradition, slamming President Trump from Germany. He made references to “dictator” when it came to Donald Trump and the press.

John McCain ran in 2008 and lost as “the Maverick.”  What people forget is that is “maverick” pedigree came from that fact that he opposed his own party and president many times, joining with the Democrats many times. He was a hawk when no one was a hawk, advising whoever is President to “send in troops” over and over.

There are many online that want to see a “recall election” for Senator John McCain. What McCain knows is that once a Senator is elected, nobody in the state can mount any kind of recall at all. The only hope is his fellow Senators will vote to oust him from the Senate. That just about never happens, and would only happen if a crime was committed. Nothing short of a felony of some kind would be considered reason to throw him out. They won’t do it. Democrats love John McCain because he can always be counted on to go to a camera and say bad things about any Republican or conservative policy.
