That’s an important award if you are a fan of Ultra HD TV Magazine. The tech media is just starting to really cover the subset interest that goes beyond typical HDTV.

Despite the award above, it was really not covered by any of the key tech media such as Engadget, Techcrunch, BGR, and a few others. They said nothing about this. In fact, most have never said a word about NTEK or any of its products. What this tells me is there is little interest in 4K / Ultra HD media at this point, although that is clearly changing. The good news here is that NTEK is early to the party. The bad news is that others could come in and drop a big name device that does much of the same thing and dominate the market.

What are you going to be streaming that is truly 4K / Ultra HD? Is there content?

They made this announcement:

“NanoTech’s UltraFlix 4K IPTV/OTT Streaming Service Achieves New Status with the World’s Largest Library of 4K VOD Content”

From that release, “With the latest additions to its vast library of pristine 4K Ultra HD content, UltraFlix subscribers can choose from more than 200 hours of sci-fi, action/thriller, comedy, drama and family movies as well as knock-your-socks-off extreme sports videos, concerts, TV shows, special events and moving murals in addition to 100 hours of free content.”

That’s 200 hours of movies. I hate to say it, but I have more than 200 hours of movies in my iTunes library. What’s more, I never watch any of them anymore. Is that enough? One media source can suddenly up their quality and deliver tens of thousands of hours in 4K Ultra HD and then 200 hours would look silly.
