Mesquite Lake Resource Recovery Plant is an 18.5 MW waste-to-energy facility located in El Centro, California. GreenHunter acquired the property on May 14, 2007 and immediately started with the development stage of engineering, budget establishment and procurement of contractors, followed by nonetheless commencement of operation.

GreenHunter enumerates some of the key highlights of the project.  According to GreenHunter, this particular project qualifies for the Federal Production Tax Credit.  The facility should also be able to use multiple biomass fuel sources at a large variance of heat rates.  In addition, this project will provide base load renewable power as opposed to intermittent power provided by other forms of renewable power projects.
