FENTON, Mo., June 28, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Vanliner Insurance Company and Move For Hunger were both recognized by Mutual of America at their Community Partnership Award Luncheon at the Hollywood Golf Club in Deal, NJ.

Move for Hunger is a national non-profit that makes a meaningful impact on reducing food waste and hunger through the donation of unopened, non-perishable foods to food pantries across North America via the moving and storage industry. To date, they’ve delivered more than 6.9 million pounds of food – 5.7 million meals – to food pantries across North America.

Vanliner – a champion of Move for Hunger – was honored by Mutual of America for being an outstanding example of leadership in the facilitation of partnerships between public, private and social sector organizations to build better communities in the future.

Additionally, Mutual of America recognized Ray Wise, President of Vanliner, as one of five individuals who have played a key role in the Move for Hunger program. He was awarded a National Community Service Commemorative Coin in recognition for his contributions.

“I was greatly honored to receive this prestigious award and must give credit to the entire Vanliner team. Our employees have been generous with their support and have actively embraced our partnering with Move For Hunger and movers across the United States to help fight hunger in their local communities,” said Ray. “As the leading insurance company for the moving and storage industry, we want to help make a difference in spreading the Move For Hunger message, so collaborating with them and moving companies across the country just makes sense.”

Also at the luncheon, Move For Hunger was named a Merit Finalist Award recipient in the Mutual of America 2015 Community Partnership Award Competition.

“We’re honored and humbled to be selected as a Mutual of America Community Partnership Award Finalist,” said Adam Lowy, Founder and Executive Director of Move For Hunger. “This will be a terrific opportunity to thank the people who have made it possible for us to continue our fight to end hunger in New Jersey and across North America.”

“This event represented the culmination of our efforts to recognize the leadership in the public, private, and social sectors who have formed partnerships for the greater good in their communities,” said Thomas Gilliam, Chairman and CEO of the Mutual of America Foundation.

Mutual of America’s Community Partnership Award celebrated its 20th Anniversary in 2015. Since the award’s inception, Mutual of America has recognized 200 partnerships across America.
