Stonybrook Becomes a Member of the IRUA

NEW YORK, Oct. 26, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Stonybrook Capital, an investment and merchant bank firm, focused exclusively on the insurance industry, is pleased to announce that it is now a corporate member of the Intermediaries & Reinsurance Underwriters Association (“IRUA”).

“As the IRUA’s newest Members, Stonybrook Capital and Stonybrook Risk Management are a welcome addition to the Association,” said Jerry Wallis, Executive Director of the IRUA. “The company and its leadership bring a business focus that is consistent with, and brings added value to our organization, and we look forward to their involvement in and support of the Association in the years ahead.”

Founded in 1967, the IRUA has a combination of Regular member companies engaged in the assumption, placement, or purchase of property/casualty reinsurance as well as a growing number of Individual Members in the fields of law, accountancy and consulting. The Association was organized for the purpose of providing high quality insurance and reinsurance education, meaningful networking opportunities, and the dissemination of topical publications and information relevant to the insurance industry.

Along with Stonybrook’s newly established member company, Stonybrook Risk Management, joining the IRUA has helped in strengthening Stonybrook’s commitment to the insurance and reinsurance industry. Stonybrook Risk Management meets client needs related to finding carrier capacity, risk management advisory, and appointing new and innovative programs.

“As a long time attendee of the Annual IRUA Conference and as a member of the Board, it is an honor to be an official member,” said Andrew Downing, President of Stonybrook Risk Management.

“As a small specialist, we need to allocate our resources carefully. Given that we expect an incredible amount of activity in this sector over the coming years, it is only natural for us to join the IRUA,” said Principal & CEO of Stonybrook Capital and Stonybrook Risk Management, Joseph Scheerer. “We are looking forward to building a deeper and more focused presence within this important sector.”
