• New entry-level plan provides customers with 1 GB of fast LTE data and unlimited text to Canada and U.S. for as low as $25 per month
  • Ultra-affordable plan offers customers 250 MB of fast LTE data, 100 minutes of Canada-wide talk, and unlimited Canada and U.S. text starting at $15 per month

CALGARY, Alberta, July 19, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — New wireless service plans announced today by Shaw Communications’ Freedom Mobile give Canadians more affordability and greater transparency into the services they are paying for from their mobile provider.

“Too many Canadians cannot afford wireless services because it is simply too expensive for their monthly budget — their exclusion is contributing to a growing digital divide. Canadians want access to more high-speed data at a fair price, they don’t want to be penalized for using too much, and they want to clearly understand what they’re paying for,” said Paul McAleese, President, Wireless, Shaw Communications. “With innovative plans, like our Big Gig offers, we have demonstrated to Canadians that they can expect more from Freedom Mobile. Canadians deserve better from their wireless provider, and we are committed to delivering for them.”

Launching in time for back to school season, Freedom Mobile is introducing a new data-focused plan that provides 1 GB of fast LTE data and unlimited text to Canada and the U.S. starting at $25 per month — perfect for customers looking for an entry-level data plan. Freedom Mobile has also launched an entry-level plan offering 250 MB of fast LTE data for as low as $15 per month. This ultra-affordable option provides 100 minutes of Canada-wide talk and unlimited text to Canada and the U.S.

Coupled with new financing options, Canadians who choose an entry-level plan can also receive a new handset starting as low as $5 per month. This makes it possible for Freedom Mobile customers to pair their services with a new device for as low as $20 per month.

“We remain committed to serving all Canadians, including those who have been priced out of the market by the incumbents. For customers who use their services modestly, the new entry-level plans announced today offer fair and affordable pricing and provide far more value than any of the low-cost, data-only plans recently proposed by the incumbents,” Mr. McAleese said. “Our entry-level plans demonstrate that the federal government’s pro-competitive policies are working.”

Lowest customer prices have been made possible as a result of Freedom Mobile’s new Digital Discount, which allows subscribers to receive a monthly $5 discount when they opt for Auto Pay and My Account registration.
