Bitfusion’s Elastic GPU Platform Adds Powerful Capabilities to Samsung SDS’ Cloud Services Portfolio

SUNNYVALE, Calif., May 15, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Bitfusion, the Elastic GPU Software Platform, announced it is partnering with Samsung SDS, a global software solutions and IT services company, to make enterprise-wide artificial intelligence (AI) deployments faster, easier and more cost-effective. Samsung SDS will incorporate Bitfusion’s AI virtualization platform for Elastic GPUs into its cloud services portfolio, enabling companies to accelerate implementation of AI for development, testing, training and production at scale, leading to increased efficiencies and decreased costs.

Bitfusion’s Elastic GPU platform delivers extensive CapEx and OpEx reduction, and increases utilization and organizational agility while keeping productivity at an all-time high. It works by enabling the creation of a common cluster (or pool) of GPUs to which AI and machine learning (ML) workloads to be assigned on-demand for the duration of the workload. The GPU pool can serve remote users across the organization, instantaneously, with any demand profile of GPUs. It works seamlessly in a public cloud or private cloud, for any organizational setting or hardware platform. The solution is essentially architected as an AI Attached Network, following the hyper converged trend of Storage (HDD and SSD) Attached Networks.

“We’re excited about the value we can provide to our customers through the partnership with Bitfusion and the addition of its powerful technology to our portfolio,” said EVP Kim Ho, Cloud Business Division Leader at Samsung SDS. “The rapid growth of machine learning and AI workloads means enterprises require an ever growing number of GPU clusters. With Bitfusion, we are able to optimize the utilization of a company’s GPU resources, while making the best fit of cluster profile to each workload.”

“Partnering with Samsung SDS is a major milestone for Bitfusion,” said Michael Zimmerman, CEO, Bitfusion. “Elastic GPUs and Network Attached AI are the next evolutionary steps in the mega-upgrade cycle of the AI industry. We are introducing a GPU cluster hypervisor with network attached capabilities. We believe that the leadership position of Samsung SDS combined with Bitfusion’s unique technology platform will deliver substantial value for enterprises deploying AI at scale.”

About Bitfusion
AI and Machine Learning are changing every aspect of the data center. GPUs (and soon newer purposed-build AI hardware) are deployed at scale in Enterprises to accommodate newer workloads. However, unlike storage, compute and networking, GPUs are deployed in a scattered, siloed and uncoordinated way. This drives negative metrics of productivity, profitability, CapEx, OpEx and agility. With Bitfusion, GPUs can be deployed as a shared and common pool, responding in real-time to any demand of a machine learning workload. Bitfusion virtualizes the GPU cluster (of any size), by allowing any workload to remotely attach over Ethernet to one or more GPUs anywhere in the cluster, only for the duration of the runtime code.
