SANTA BARBARA, Jan. 16, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Vitamin Angels, a 501(c)3 public charity that helps malnourished mothers and children get life-saving vitamins, announced Tuesday that fundraising efforts by Sprouts Farmers Market generated more than $500,000 over the course of 2017. Sprouts, which has partnered with Vitamin Angels since 2010, raised money both in stores and through their philanthropic arm, the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation.

“Vitamin Angels is thrilled to partner with Sprouts Farmers Market and we appreciate the effort put in by their team members to support the work we do and to educate their customers on the impact that we are having on global health,” said Howard Schiffer, President and Founder of Vitamin Angels. “The children who will receive vitamins as a result of their support now have a chance for a brighter future.”

Fundraising by the grocery store chain took various forms, including a campaign in August where the purchase of any of 1,355 vitamin, heath and body products triggered a 25 cent donation to Vitamin Angels; an October “round-up” campaign, which offered customers the chance to round-up their purchases to the nearest dollar; and a donation of $30,000 from the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation.

“The Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation supports the important work of organizations that are helping to shift the landscape of health in our society,” said Lyndsey Waugh, executive director of the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation. “We’re proud to back the far-reaching work of Vitamin Angels that helps at-risk populations gain access to lifesaving resources, allowing them to live healthier lives.”

Sprouts Farmers Markets plans to continue the partnership with Vitamin Angels in 2018. To learn more about the charity or make a donation, visit vitaminangels.org
