WEST CHESTER, Pa., Dec. 11, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — A. Duie Pyle (Pyle), the premier provider of asset and non-asset based transportation and supply chain solutions in the Northeast, has been recognized as a recipient of the Supply & Demand Chain Executive (SDCE) Green Supply Chain Award for 2017.

“We are honored to be recognized by Supply & Demand Chain Executive Green Supply Chain Award as it truly validates the investments we’ve made as a company to improve our green initiatives across the board,” said Randy Swart, COO at A. Duie Pyle. “Continuing to place importance on staying ahead of the curve regarding energy efficiency, technology and equipment has given our customers increased overall value.”

Pyle was recognized for the company’s efforts in making green or sustainability a core part of its supply chain strategy and is working to achieve measurable sustainability goals within the company’s own operations and supply chains. Supply & Demand Chain Executive is the executive’s user manual for successful supply and demand chain transformation. One example of how Pyle works to improve sustainability is the company’s internal MPG Challenge Program. Recently, the company saved 101,230 gallons of fuel and during a period of three months, saved over 2.2 million pounds in CO2 emissions. The MPG challenge is an employee engagement program to lower their carbon footprint by implementing more sustainable driving practices like progressive shifting, avoiding rapid acceleration and using cruise control.

In addition to the company’s internal program, Pyle has taken further steps toward sustainability. Over the last year, Pyle has enhanced their fleet by investing in electric hybrid straight trucks as well as state-of-the-art, self-inflating tires to maintain proper air pressure and limit fossil fuel waste. Pyle has also worked to systematically migrate all of its facilities to energy-efficient LED lighting technology.

“Honorees for this year’s award demonstrate that corporate social responsibility is a business imperative that transcends the company and extends throughout the supply chain, involving suppliers and customers,” says John R. Yuva, editor for Supply & Demand Chain Executive. “The number of entries only increase year over year, demonstrating how critical sustainability initiatives are within companies.”
