TORONTO, Nov. 20, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Star Navigation Systems Group Ltd. (CSE:SNA) (CSE:SNA.CN) (“Star” or the “Company”), is pleased to provide an update with respect to ongoing discussions being held with Indian regulators  concerning the opening of the Indian market for sale and activation of the STAR-A.D.S. ® System.

Star’s Indian distributor recently concluded a series of meetings with the office of the Indian Directorate General of Civil Aviation (“DGCA”).  The DGCA is the Indian governmental regulatory body for civil aviation, operating under the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

A meeting with the Ministry of Civil Aviation of India also took place. The Indian equivalent of Transport Canada, the role of the Ministry is to formulate national policies and programmes for the development and regulation of Civil Aviation and for devising and implementing schemes for the orderly growth and expansion of civil air transport. Star’s unique technology and its ability to enhance both air safety and operational efficiency was discussed thoroughly and has created significant interest with the Indian authorities. Letters were accepted by the regulators initiating the formal process. The next step is a formal technical presentation of the features and benefits of the STAR-A.D.S. ® System, to be provided by Star’s engineering and sales staff at a date to be confirmed.

Star’s CEO, Viraf S. Kapadia said:

“We have been working with the authorities in India on this initiative for several years and are most encouraged by the response to the proposals made during our recent meetings. The Indian aviation market is growing at a very rapid pace and we are convinced that our products can contribute to that growth by enhancing air safety.”
