“Diversity and inclusiveness at all levels allows us to see things from a broader perspective and to perform at our best,” said Patricia Lawicki, chief information officer and executive vice president, Navient, who represented the company at the event. “We are grateful to be recognized for this achievement and applaud the distinguished companies honored today for increasing gender diversity in the boardroom.”

Navient is among the few S&P 500 companies with a majority women board. The company has attracted nationwide recognition for gender parity on its board from 2020 Women on Boards and the New York Stock Exchange Governance Services.

“We congratulate Navient and their work towards achieving a greater gender balance in their boardroom,” said Janice Reals Ellig, CEO, The Ellig Group and chair of the event. “Navient knows that more women on boards is smart business and their continued success is an inspiration to others.”

The event brought together an audience of more than 600, kicking off with a call to action from tennis legend Billie Jean King, who founded the Billie Jean King Leadership Initiative to foster more inclusive leadership, including more representation of women and diversity in corporate America. The awards presentation was followed by panel discussions detailing how top U.S. companies can become game changers that make real progress in the path to parity.
