TORONTO, Nov. 14, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — ECN Capital Corp. (TSX:ECN) (“ECN Capital” or the “Company”), one of North America’s leading finance companies, today reported financial results for the three-month and nine-month periods ended September 30, 2017. Readers should note that in this release, amounts reported for the comparable quarter ended September 30, 2016 are presented on a carved-out basis. In addition, the amounts reported for the comparable quarters ended June 30, 2017 and September 30, 2016 reflect continuing operations only. Consolidated numbers are reported in the Financial Statements.
For the three-month period ended September 30, 2017, ECN Capital reported After-tax Adjusted Operating Income of $12.1 million or $0.03 per share (basic) versus $16.3 million or $0.04 per share (basic) for the previous three-month period ending June 30, 2017 and $25.7 million or $0.06 per share (basic) for the same period last year.
Book Value per Common Share as at September 30, 2017 was $4.51 versus $4.70 as at the end of the previous three-month period and $4.42 for the same period last year. Book value per common share was $4.74 on a constant currency basis for the nine-month period ended September 30, 2017.
Originations for the three-month period ended September 30, 2017 were $227.8 million versus $164.7 million for the previous three-month period ending June 30, 2017 and $214.2 million for the same period last year.
Total Earning Assets Owned and under Management as at September 30, 2017 were $3.8 billion, versus $4.2 billion as at June 30, 2017 and $5.6 billion as at September 30, 2016.
Net Financial Income, net of interest expense and provision for credit losses, for the three-month period ended September 30, 2017 was $31.6 million as compared with $35.7 million for the previous three-month period ended June 30, 2017 and $38.7 million for the same period last year.
Adjusted Operating Expenses for the three-month period ended September 30, 2017 were $16.2 million versus $15.6 million reported for the previous three-month period ended June 30, 2017 and $10.5 million for the same period last year.
Net Income (Loss) for the three-month period ended September 30, 2017 was $(50.9) million versus $15.9 million for the previous three-month period ended June 30, 2017 and $1.2 million for the same period last year.

The Company’s Board of Directors has authorized and declared a quarterly dividend of $0.01 per outstanding common share of ECN Capital for the fourth quarter of 2017. The dividend will be paid on January 15, 2018 to shareholders of record at the close of business on December 29, 2017. These dividends are designated to be eligible dividends for purposes of section 89(1) of the Income Tax Act (Canada).

- A quarterly dividend of $0.40625 per outstanding Cumulative 5-Year Rate Reset Preferred Share, Series A (TSX:ECN.PR.A) payable on January 2, 2018 to shareholders of record on the close of business on December 18, 2017. These dividends are designated to be eligible dividends for purposes of section 89(1) of the Income Tax Act (Canada).
- A quarterly dividend of $0.390625 per outstanding Cumulative 5-Year Rate Reset Preferred Share, Series C (TSX:ECN.PR.C) payable on January 2, 2018 to shareholders of record on the close of business on December 18, 2017. These dividends are designated to be eligible dividends for purposes of section 89(1) of the Income Tax Act (Canada).
