ST. JOHN’S, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nov. 14, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — As the provincial government prepares to release its spring budget, CUPE Newfoundland Labrador is encouraging the province, despite the continuing deficit, to invest in its commodities, whether they be the province’s natural resources or its hard-working Newfoundland Labradorians.

Says CUPE Newfoundland Labrador president, Wayne Lucas, “Now is not the time to cut services or increase taxes. A confident government who looks to the future will create jobs and invest in quality public services, not cut them. Austerity measures will sound alarm bells and discourage investment in our proud and strong province.”

Says Lucas, “We will continue to monitor the success or failure of the upcoming spring budget. The provincial government has a valuable opportunity here to invest in the future of this province.”
