Beyond Fences, formerly known as the Coalition to Unchain Dogs, provides free services, support, and supplies for dog owners in underserved areas of the county. These services include the Fence Program, which builds fences at no charge to the resident for the purpose of providing a dog with a leash-free living experience. The organization also provides straw for insulation in winter months and tarps for shade in summer months. 

Barktoberfest will be held on Sunday, October 29th at Durham Central Park, between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. at 501 Foster Street in Durham, North Carolina, 27702. The City of Durham is promoting a canine costume contest. There will also be a Purina Pro Plan Performance Team showcasing the talents of the Dare Devil Dogs as they do tricks. Barktoberfest will also have a photo booth, the Canine Food Drive, a Pet’s Market, a Fun Walk, raffles, and interested parties of legal age will be able to buy beer and food.
