EWING, N.J., Oct. 12, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Antares Pharma, Inc. (NASDAQ:ATRS) today announced that, on October 11, 2017, the Company received a letter from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) stating that, as part of their ongoing review of the Company’s New Drug Application (NDA) for XYOSTED (testosterone enanthate) injection, they have identified deficiencies that preclude the continuation of the discussion of labeling and postmarketing requirements/commitments at this time.  The letter does not specify the deficiencies identified by the FDA and there has been no further clarification of the deficiencies by the FDA at this time.  We anticipate receiving further clarification from the FDA on or before the Prescription Drug User Fee Act (PDUFA) date of October 20, 2017.  The Company intends to work with the FDA to understand the nature of the deficiencies once identified and resolve them as quickly as possible.

On December 20, 2016, the Company submitted to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration a New Drug Application pursuant to section 505(b)(2) of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act (FDCA), for testosterone enanthate subcutaneous injection.  On February 24, 2017, the Company received a letter from the FDA notifying the Company that the FDA assigned a PDUFA target date for completion of its review by October 20, 2017.  On September 22, 2017, the Company received labeling comments from the FDA which the Company responded to on September 29, 2017.
