Dallas, TX, Aug. 21, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Associa, the industry’s largest community management company, expanded its commitment to building strong communities by introducing a company-wide volunteer initiative with “The Great Giveback.”

“The Great Giveback” was a month-long endeavor that ran from July 15 to August 15, 2017, and encouraged Associa employees to engage in community service projects using the 10:4:1 approach: the projects engaged up to 10 percent of the location’s employees, dedicating up to four hours of service to one community project.

Associa had over 500 employees volunteer for “The Great Giveback,” dedicating more than 2,000 hours to a variety of community projects that included volunteering for the Humane Society, working at food banks, forming a day program to build young women’s self-esteem, constructing homes for Habitat for Humanity, serving meals at women’s shelters, organizing blood drives and much more.

Associa’s home office partnered with Carter Blood Care to organize a blood drive. The successful event brought over 30 volunteers to donate blood. According to the American Red Cross, every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood, and a single donation can potentially help more than one patient.

The Associa Chicagoland branch volunteered at their local Feed My Starving Children facility. The team of 25 were able to construct 169 boxes of food, which equals 36,504 meals – enough meals to feed 100 children for an entire year.

“This opportunity was life changing for our group of volunteers; having the ability to help a child with something as simple as providing them a meal was a humbling experience,” stated Stephanie Skelley, Associa Chicagoland president.
