WOBURN, Mass., June 20, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Yield10 Bioscience, Inc. (NASDAQ:YTEN) announced that CEO Oliver Peoples, Ph.D., will be presenting today at BIO 2017 on a panel entitled: Unpredictable Weather:  How biology-based ag innovations are helping society both mitigate the causes of climate change, and adapt to the impacts as they occur.  This panel is taking place from 3:00 to 4:45 pm (PT) as part of the programming for Modern Ag Innovation Day at the BIO 2017 Conference being held this week in San Diego, CA.

As part of the panel discussion, Dr. Peoples will highlight the approach Yield10 is taking to “build better plants” by developing proprietary, breakthrough technologies to produce higher yields in major food and feed crops with lower inputs of land, water and fertilizer to enhance global food security. He will discuss ongoing research with C3003, an algal gene Yield10 is deploying as a novel yield trait for C3 photosynthetic crops including Camelina, canola, soybean and rice.  Data from recent studies suggest that C3003 may provide an entirely new strategy to improve seed yield by bringing in new metabolic functionality from non-plant systems. In addition, he will also describe the development of new traits for yield and/or drought tolerance based on genome editing approaches where the new plants have the potential to be classified as “nonregulated” and may enable the rapid commercialization of new traits in crops.  Additional confirmed panelists for the session include executives from Dupont, Intrexon, Arcadia, Syngenta and DSM North America.  Learn more about the panel at Modern Ag Unpredictable Weather Panel.
