The featured home is a Classical Revival House, built in 1904, designed by architects Samuel Newsom and his son, Sidney. The Showcase began in 1977 when Nan Rosenblatt, a former San Francisco University High School parent and herself an accomplished interior designer, along with Philip Fernandez, the first president of the school’s Parents Association, conceived the idea as a fundraiser for the school’s financial aid program.
The Showcase has taken place at some of the most prestigious addresses in the most fashionable neighborhoods of San Francisco. Last year’s was at the Villa de Martini, 298 Chestnut Street on Telegraph Hill, and the year before was at 3630 Jackson Street, a Julia Morgan-designed mansion in Presidio Heights.
