Sunday, April 23, 2017 is election day in France. As you can see from the chart below, the very moderate François Fillon of France’s “Republican Party” has taken a hard hit as violence continues in France.

Then Emmanuel Macron of the very “progressive” (basically moderate Socialist) En Marche! Party (don’t forget the punctuation behind the name) has taken the lead. This is because many in France see violence as the result of not appeasing those committing violent crimes in their country. Maybe they don’t say it that way, but that is the net result.

What’s interesting is the slow growth of Marine Le Pen of the National Front Party. It’s described by most as the “right-wing nationalist party” of France. Or – the French version of Trump Republicans in the US.

With over two months to go it is still anyone’s battle. Their party system is far different from ours. Ultimately the President of France is very, very powerful in comparison to other “democratic” states. While they have a parliamentary system, it is the president who controls much of that system.

Assuming Le Pen wins, it’s a whole new world in France. Right now in France speaking out against “migrants” might get you arrested for a hate crime. Say the same thing about Christians, and you’re going to be in no trouble at all.
