LAGUNA BEACH, Calif., Oct. 17, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The American Pathology Foundation (APF), a non-profit professional society devoted to the business and management of pathology, announced its president and Board of Directors serving for the 2016-2018 term. Gregory S. Henderson, MD, PhD will lead as president of the association, along with three other board members as they look to further the educational resources and initiatives for the pathology business and management industry.

“The American Pathology Foundation has a long history of being the only pathology and laboratory medicine professional society solely dedicated to the education of pathologists and management professionals about the business aspects of our specialty. As physicians, we are always first and foremost driven by what is best for our patients, and this has been our primary focus and knowledge set since our training began. The APF was founded with the understanding that it is impossible to provide sustainable, innovative, and high quality diagnostic care unless there is also a deep knowledge of the business, management, and regulatory challenges to our practice,” said Dr. Henderson. “As these challenges are reaching a complexity that is beyond most of our abilities to understand – much less manage – now more than ever, our mission to educate our colleagues has become truly critical. I look forward to working with the APF to scale its knowledge and influence throughout our specialty and to foster strong relationships with other medical and industry stakeholders to meet these challenges in the interest of our patients who deserve the highest quality of diagnostic medical care as the house of medicine undergoes a deep and extensive renovation.”
