CHICAGO, Sept. 30, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Dr. Steven J Sadowsky, DDS, FACP, will be honored by the American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) with a Presidential Citation for meritorious service to the specialty of prosthodontics. Dr. Sadowsky will be honored at the 46th Annual Session of the ACP held in San Diego Oct. 5-8, 2016.

Dr. Sadowsky received his DDS degree from the University of California at Los Angeles. He then went on to earn a Certificate in Advanced Education in Prosthodontics from University of Southern California School of Dentistry before opening his own private prosthodontic practice for 35 years. Currently, Dr. Sadowsky is a professor and director of implant education at the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in California.

He has directed the ACP Annual Review Course for the last 6 years. Previously, Dr. Sadowsky served as the first ACP Board of Director overseeing the Private Practice and Patient Care Division.

Dr. Sadowsky has been invited to sit on the editorial review boards of The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants, and the International Journal of Prosthodontics. He has published 20 articles in peer-reviewed journals, mainly on the topic of implant dentistry. He has edited a book titled, Evidence-based Implant Treatment Planning and Clinical Protocols which will be published by the end of the 2016.

Dr. Sadowsky has been featured in an article by U.S. News and World Report documenting that a career in prosthodontics was ranked #11 in best paying jobs and will grow by 18% by 2024. He noted that beyond the remuneration benefits, the field offers diverse opportunities in clinical practice, original writing and research, teaching, as well as leadership roles in professional societies.

In addition to his leadership roles with ACP, Dr. Sadowsky is a past president of the American Prosthodontic Society (APS) and president-elect of the Pacific Coast Society for Prosthodontics. Dr. Sadowsky is a fellow of both the ACP and APS. Dr. Sadowsky became a diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontists in 1987.
