LAS VEGAS, Sept. 26, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Miracle Flights, the nation’s leading medical flight charity, ended the summer having performed 595 flights for the month of August. Since its inception in 1985, the nonprofit has coordinated over 103,000 flights and flown over 57 million miles.

Patients are flown from all over the U.S, as well as all over the world. Miracle Flights flew 87 total patients in August from eight different countries, including Jamaica, Turkey and Peru, as well as 33 different states.

The Las Vegas-based nonprofit recently celebrated its 100,000th flight, having helped patients with rare and life-threatening medical conditions gain access to distant medical care for over three decades. Plane tickets are provided at no cost to the families and as many times as necessary.

Mark E. Brown, CEO of Miracle Flights, said, “We’re very pleased with August’s flight count. The end of the summer can be a stressful time for families with kids heading back to school. To know we helped alleviate some of that stress by proving no-cost medical transportation is reassuring. As we continue to grow, we want to encourage more people to spread the word about Miracle Flights so that no child is denied a healthier future due to distance.”
