NOVI, Mich., Sept. 26, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Learning Care Group, Inc. announces that Daniel Follis, Jr. is joining the organization as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer, effective immediately. He will also serve as the company’s Corporate Secretary, reporting to CEO Barbara Beck. Learning Care Group is the second-largest for-profit early education and childcare provider in North America.

Follis will lead all aspects of legal, compliance and regulatory affairs for Learning Care Group throughout the U.S. and internationally. His responsibilities include oversight for governance, intellectual property, employment and labor issues, as well as franchise relationships.

“Dan brings a wealth of legal expertise and deep business acumen to support Learning Care Group’s strategic growth,” said Barbara Beck, CEO at Learning Care Group. “His comprehensive experience will be a tremendous asset to the company as we navigate the ever-changing landscape of regulatory compliance with the highest standards of integrity.”

Follis’ extensive leadership experience in corporate law includes more than 17 years with Compuware Corporation, formerly a publicly held global technology company providing business software and services to the world’s largest IT organizations. He joined Compuware as Senior Counsel in 1998 from Freeborn & Peters LLP, where he had served as an Associate Attorney specializing in business litigation and corporate law. Follis held roles of increasing responsibility at Compuware, ultimately managing all legal matters as the company’s Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary from 2008-2015.

As the chief legal officer at Compuware, Follis oversaw commercial litigation, employment law, immigration, intellectual property, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, international law and SEC compliance. He served on the board of directors of Compuware Corporation’s venture capital subsidiary, Compuware Ventures LLC. Follis led all legal aspects of the successful sale of Compuware to a private equity firm in 2015. Subsequently, he served as Associate General Counsel at Cooper-Standard Automotive, Inc., a leading global Tier 1 automotive supplier, before joining Learning Care Group.

A native Michigander, Dan earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and his Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan School of Law.

“I’m very pleased to be joining the executive team at Learning Care Group during this time of accelerated growth for the corporation,” said Follis. “I look forward to working with the organization’s talented team of legal professionals and bringing my experience and passion for the law to a company that’s educating tomorrow’s leaders.”
