OVERLAND PARK, Kan., Nov. 03, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Black & Veatch announced today that its internal Legal, Risk Management and Government Affairs Division has been named as one of the top 100 U.S. in-house legal teams on the GC Powerlist. The annual list is published by The Legal 500 and recognizes the most influential in-house teams based in the United States that drive the legal business forward.

The Powerlist analyses corporate counsel worldwide. Legal 500 says the list “identifies an array of the most influential and innovative in-house teams working in the United States.”

Teams on the list are selected for their ability to shape or change opinion within their company or industry. They solve complex problems, innovate to drive business and provide a model for other corporate counsel teams to emulate. The purpose of the list, according to Legal 500, is, in part, to “stimulate debate around the role of the in-house lawyer and help corporate counsel with possible improvements and efficiencies in running their departments.”

“Our team combines legal acumen with a deep understanding of the company’s interests across all of its business lines including energy, water and telecommunications,” said Timothy W. Triplett, Black & Veatch’s general counsel. “From risk management, government affairs and corporate compliance to legal advice, the range of talent and work ethic on this team works to help provide Black & Veatch with a significant business advantage.”

GC Magazine editor-in-chief Catherine McGregor says Black & Veatch’s legal team stands out for its global corporate compliance program and support of a company initiative that fosters accountability and innovation.

“We at The Legal 500 and GC Magazine have been impressed by the Black & Veatch legal department’s unified team spirit and their innovative work on a number of enterprises,” McGregor said.
