ADVISORY, Oct. 28, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) —

What:

The U.S. Fund for UNICEF supports UNICEF’s work in 190 countries and territories to put children first. UNICEF works for the survival, protection and development of children worldwide, and has helped save more lives than any other humanitarian organization. The U.S. Fund for UNICEF works to ensure that every child has a safe and healthy childhood through fundraising, advocacy and education in the United States.

The U.S. Fund for UNICEF will visit the Nasdaq MarketSite in Times Square to celebrate the 65th anniversary of Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF, one of the longest-running youth volunteer initiatives in America. Every year, kids around the country go door-to-door to support UNICEF’s work around the globe. The original Kids-Helping-Kids campaign has raised more than $175 million to help provide children with medicine, nutrition, clean water, education and emergency relief.

In honor of the occasion, Caryl Stern, President and CEO of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF will ring the Closing Bell. Joining her will be representatives from Trick-or-Treat National Partners Claire’s and Key Club, as well as representatives from Promotional Supporter American Airlines.

For the first time, Claire’s will support Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF through retail stores nationwide and on Claires.com. Through October 31, customers can pick up a Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF box in Claire’s stores nationwide, which they can use to decorate and collect funds to support UNICEF. The brand will also host an Instagram sweepstakes (#clairesUNICEFsweepstakes) and give prizes for the most creative boxes. In addition, Claire’s will sell a Halloween tote, donating 50 percent of the purchase price to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF through October 31.

Key Club International continues its support of Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF, raising funds for The Eliminate Project, which seeks to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus. To date, the longstanding partnership with Key Club has raised more than $7 million for UNICEF. Key Club International, a student-led service leadership program of Kiwanis International, is the oldest and largest service program for high school students.

For the seventh year, American Airlines will support Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF through UNICEF’s Change for Good program on American Airlines. Change for Good provides an opportunity for American Airlines employee volunteers to raise funds by collecting travelers’ donations of foreign and domestic currency, which UNICEF uses to provide lifesaving services for children around the world. Through October 31, American’s customers will have the opportunity to make donations in Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF boxes on select international flights.
