Austin, Texas, Oct. 28, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Independent software developer and vendor EDDR Software (http://www.eddrs.com) has joined a semiconductor industry group that has devised the first open standard for interoperable Process Design Kits (iPDKs) for analog/mixed-signal designs.

The IPL (interoperable PDK libraries) Alliance, comprised of major foundry and EDA companies, is an organization chartered with establishing an interoperable custom design ecosystem. iPDK bases its technology on the OpenAccess database using standard languages and a unified architecture that ensure interoperability among all EDA vendor tools. By using iPDK to develop process design kits, this reduces the number of PDKs needed for each process node allowing for design engineers to reduce development costs and shorten design cycles.

EDDR Software provides expertise to its customers developing and using toolkits derived from this standard in the areas of properties and parameters, pcells, and constraints. The benefits of EDDR Software supported toolkits include improved performance, increased reuse and portability through use of standards, and broader EDA tool support.

EDDR Software provides development and advisory services on EDA dependent projects covering the full design flow from front-end to back-end. EDDR Software customers largely include EDA, semiconductor, and photonics companies. Along with continuing its photonics research and support, EDDR Software is also developing a highly sophisticated revision control system used throughout the entire design flow ecosystem and development tools for engineers and programmers developing proprietary in-house solutions. Look for EDDR Software’s revision control system offering by the Spring of 2016.
