OMAHA, NEB., Oct. 27, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Nebraska Methodist College has announced a Pharmacy Technician Exam Review course for pharmacy technicians throughout the state.

The move comes on the heels of Nebraska Law LB 37, which will soon require all pharmacy technicians to earn their credentials from a certification body at the state or national level. One of the main stipulations is a passing grade on the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board exam.

The new course from Nebraska Methodist College’s Center for Professional and Continuing Education (CfPCE) is designed to prepare individuals to pass this test. Over three weeks, students will receive a review of the content covered by the PTCB exam. The class is led by Dr. Judd Coffman, a pharmacist with the Methodist Health System.

This newly announced course reinforces NMC’s commitment to remain on the cutting edge of changes within the healthcare field. Demand for Occupational Therapists led the college to launch a new Master’s program, while a new Nursing Informatics option for MSN students aims to meet the demand for data analysis created by the Affordable Care Act.

“Our institution continues to be a leader in providing educational opportunities to healthcare professionals,” said Jillian Sisson, MSN, RN and director of Professional Education at Nebraska Methodist College, “and this pharmacy technician review course is the latest extension of that. As the first college to launch this kind of endeavor within Nebraska, we’re ready to educate pharmacy technicians from across the state who intend to pursue their career ambitions.”

The first three-week course offering begins in November, with subsequent courses offered in January and every month thereafter. Pharmacy technicians interested in signing up are encouraged to visit http://info.methodistcollege.edu/pharmacy-technician-exam-review to learn more and to register for the program.
