WORCESTER, Mass., Oct. 20, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Today, Rick Galipeau and Mike Santangelo announced the launch of a new company, World Energy Efficiency Services, LLC. The company, which purchased assets from the founders’ previous company, World Energy Solutions, raised capital from Commerce Bank and Massachusetts Growth Capital Corporation to help fund startup costs.

With 21 full-time employees, World Energy Efficiency Services, LLC has established its headquarters in newly renovated offices at 24 Rockdale Street in Worcester, Mass., a site secured in partnership with the Worcester Chamber of Commerce. The company is also operating a satellite office in Cromwell, Conn. Mr. Galipeau will serve as World Energy Efficiency Services’ President, and Mr. Santangelo as Vice President.

The two principals were instrumental in forming NES, an energy efficiency startup, back in 2010, which was purchased by World Energy Solutions in 2011. The asset purchase underscores the founders’ commitment to the energy efficiency business and their positive view of its prospects.

“Having grown our energy efficiency services business from a startup to a regional leader in five years, we feel we have only scratched the surface of the energy efficiency opportunity here in New England,” said Mike Santangelo, Vice President, World Energy Efficiency Services. “The high price of electricity and natural gas in the region paired with an increasing awareness of the role energy efficiency plays in helping protect the planet are driving rapid innovation in our industry and more and more successful engagements for our company.”

Added Rick Galipeau, President, “Mike and I are very excited to be leading this business and applying everything we have learned to help New England businesses be more energy efficient. Over the past five years, we have grown one of the best energy efficiency teams in New England, have won the right to participate in the energy efficiency programs of key utilities and have distinguished ourselves through hundreds of successful client engagements. We couldn’t be happier with where our business is today and where it is heading.”

World Energy Efficiency Services is one of the region’s only firms to offer comprehensive energy conservation measures, including lighting, energy management systems (EMS), HVAC, retro-commissioning and the installation of variable frequency drives (VFD). The company is a preferred provider of energy efficiency services in several utility programs in the Eversource Massachusetts and Connecticut portfolio: NSTAR’s Direct Install Program for small businesses; NSTAR’s Municipal Program for government entities; WMECO’s program for small commercial and industrials; and the Small Business Energy Advantage (SBEA) Program for Connecticut Light & Power. In addition, World Energy Efficiency Services provides services for the SBEA Program for the United Illuminating Company.
