OMAHA, NEB., Oct. 19, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — For 125 years, Nebraska Methodist College has been teaching the meaning of care, and this week, the college will host a variety of activities that will acknowledge that heritage while looking to the future.

The week-long event starts today, with NMC hosting a 125-Hour Week of Service Challenge for alumni and anyone affiliated with the college. On Tuesday, all alumni and students are invited to Vala’s Pumpkin Patch, where the celebration continues with a bonfire and other activities.

Members of the NMC community are invited on Saturday to experience the college-sponsored Super Powers, a brand new exhibit at the Omaha Children’s Museum. On Saturday, the Alumni Reunion Dinner caps off the week.

But it’s Thursday’s event that has campus abuzz. The college will host an unprecedented Convocation ceremony that features an assortment of guest speakers and charts the future of Nebraska Methodist College.

On the heels of Convocation, NMC will host a street party throughout campus offering music, food trucks, the Escape the Dorm Halloween experience, a dodgeball tournament and more, all tied to the theme of There’s No Place Like Homecoming, with participants encouraged to use #NMCisWicked on social media.

“We’ve never done anything like this at NMC,” said Dr. Brian Sajko, Vice President of Enrollment and Student Success at NMC. “But there’s really no better way to kick off the celebration of our 125-Year anniversary. For more than a century, Nebraska Methodist College has been a cornerstone of the community, and Convocation represents a new standard for student engagement as well as an appropriate launching point into what we have planned for the future of our growing campus.”
