Regent Surgical Health Announces New ASC Physician Partnership in Alaska

WESTCHESTER, Ill., Oct. 15, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Regent Surgical Health, an industry-leading surgery center management and development company specializing in hospital and physician ambulatory surgery center joint ventures, today announced a new ambulatory surgery center partnership in Alaska. The facility, Surgery Center of Wasilla, serves patients in the fast-growing Matanuska-Susitna Valley near Anchorage.

“Regent is very excited about this opportunity to partner with a great group of physicians and expand access to high-quality, affordable outpatient care to the rapidly expanding community of Wasilla,” Regent Vice President of Operations Anne Roberts said. “Regent’s ASCs leverage the strengths of each party involved, provide physicians with significant equity opportunities and create long-lasting, patient-centric facilities for local residents.”

“Regent and its staff are excellent business partners who are incredibly resourceful,” said Dr. Evan Wolf, a Surgery Center of Wasilla partner and specialist in ophthalmology. “It has been very rewarding to expand the surgical options in the Valley for my patients.”

The 12-physician ASC partnership includes specialists in pain management, orthopedics, ENT, urology, podiatry, general surgery, GYN, ophthalmology and varicose vein treatment.  Located about 45 miles from Anchorage, The Last Frontier’s sixth biggest city, Wasilla has swelled from 300 residents in 1970 to nearly 9,000 today — and with it, so has its demand for comprehensive, convenient local healthcare services.

Surgery Center of Wasilla is the second surgery center developed by Regent in Alaska. In 2010, the company opened the very successful Surgery Center of Anchorage, a facility that is now partnered with Alaska Regional Hospital, an HCA affiliate.

“The community of Wasilla is in need of an expansion of services, as the population continues to grow in the Valley,” said Dr. Thomas Grissom, board president of Surgery Center of Wasilla and a specialist in pain management. “With Regent’s help, we have been successful in bringing together a diverse group of physicians with a common goal to improve the delivery of surgical services to the community.”

“Much of the surgical services in the Wasilla area are completed in Anchorage,” he continued. “This facility helps keep Mat-Su Valley patients from traveling far from their home to access outpatient surgical services, and it expands access to affordable healthcare in the community.”
