LOS ANGELES, Oct. 1, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has announced the successful test of its Tactical Incident Management System (TIMS) in a proof of concept with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). The testing was carried out in support of the LAPD during multiple special events, culminating with a comprehensive 8-day test during the Special Olympics World Games from opening to closing ceremonies. The goal of the proof of concept was to provide the LAPD with a streamlined incident response system that is applied in real-time and tailored to their mission.

“The pilot program was started to work closely with the LAPD to better understand their mission and tailor our solution to help them save time, automate and electronically track their resources and to provide the useful efficiencies needed to do their job better,” said Ed Sturms, vice president and general manager, civil division, Northrop Grumman.

TIMS offers a web-based suite of tools and modules that provide unparalleled capabilities to agencies like the LAPD that deploy incident management teams in response to planned and unplanned special events. The solution enables single and unified planning and provides the ability to effectively plan and manage any scheduled or emergency events using FEMA Incident Command System protocols and forms to mitigate protracted, manual paper-driven processes.

“We are proud to have supported the LAPD in the execution and management of these significant events and provide an intuitive solution that proved to be an immediate asset to their mission,” Sturms concluded.

Northrop Grumman partnered with Denver-based, Incident Response Technologies Inc. (IRT), leveraging their cloud-based incident response and management technology and drawing on IRT’s Rhodium™ Incident Management Suite – a software that can be accessed via computers or mobile devices. In addition, as part of a full spectrum event planning and management solution, Northrop Grumman incorporated BioSled, Northrop Grumman’s Android powered biometrics application for check-in and checkout, and e.POWER©, Northrop Grumman’s business process management platform for workflow processing.

“The ability to collaborate with Northrop Grumman, a global security leader, has been an excellent experience,” said Jarret Winkelman, IRT President. “The TIMS solution illustrates the substantial leap in incident management tools that continue to benefit public safety agencies in planning, managing and reporting for all types of events and incidents.”
