SAN DIEGO, Sept. 30, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — LRAD Corporation (NASDAQ: LRAD), the world’s leading provider of Long Range Acoustic Devices® and advanced ONE VOICE Mass Notification Systems (MNS), today announced multiple Acoustic Hailing Device (AHD) and LRAD ONE VOICE MNS orders totaling over $945,000 for defense, homeland security, and critical asset protection & infrastructure security.

Oklahoma National Guard

Oklahoma will be the first state to deploy the mobile LRAD ONE VOICE MNS for emergencies and disaster relief. Fully self-contained, the mobile LRAD 360XT MNS delivers highly intelligible voice and alert tone broadcasts with uniform 360° coverage over large areas and is integrated with a ruggedized trailer that features securely mounted, lockable electronics and equipment enclosures, amplifier modules, battery pneumatic system, and a rapidly deployable, telescoping 30 ft. mast.

“Severe weather and natural disasters often compromise communication infrastructure,” commented Tom Brown, President & CEO of LRAD Corporation. “Our mobile LRAD ONE VOICE 360XT provides the perfect mass notification solution for the National Guard during emergency situations and disaster relief missions.”

U.S. Coast Guard

The U.S. Coast Guard is replacing ship-to-ship loudspeaker systems on several cutters that operate in the Pacific and the Middle East with LRAD 450XL and LRAD 500X systems. The U.S. Coast Guard will utilize the LRAD AHD systems for anti-terrorism, force protection, exclusion zone notification, search and rescue, and maritime interdictions.

“These are our first orders from the U.S. Coast Guard,” remarked Brown. “Having been selected by the U.S. Navy as its AHD of choice for small vessels, we’re pleased to now support the U.S. Coast Guard in its important maritime missions.”

U.S. Army

The follow-on LRAD 500X systems and accessories order is from the U.S. Army’s Rapid Equipping Force (REF). The REF harnesses current and emerging technologies to provide immediate solutions to the urgent challenges of U.S. Army forces deployed globally.

“Our LRAD 500X enables our military to clearly communicate in any language over distances up to 2,000 meters,” Brown noted. “By broadcasting hails, warnings and commands with exceptional clarity, LRAD AHDs determine intent, prevent misunderstandings, provide a critical escalation of force capability, and save lives.”

Hoover Dam

The Hoover Dam is installing an LRAD 1000RX system to broadcast warnings to boaters and prevent restricted area entries near the dam.

“Dams, ports, water treatment plants and other critical infrastructure facilities are being protected by remotely operated LRAD systems,” added Brown. “Our LRAD 1000RX reduces security threats and provides a highly effective, cost efficient, remote response security solution.”

U.S. State Department

The U.S. State Department has ordered helicopter mounted LRAD 500X systems and accessories, and an LRAD 500RX. The LRAD AHDs will be deployed for security and critical asset protection at an overseas embassy.

“While we’ve received orders from the U.S. State Department previously, these are its first orders for helicopter mounted and remotely operated LRAD systems,” Brown concluded. “These initial and follow-on orders are indicative of the versatility of our LRAD product line.”
