DALLAS, TEXAS, Sept. 24, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Associa, the worldwide leader in community management, congratulates Associa President Joey Carona and Associa Carolinas Vice President Melissa Merritt-Darden on their election to Community Associations Institute (CAI) Association of Professional Community Managers (APCM) Board of Directors. Carona was re-elected to the management company CEO position and Merritt-Darden to an at-large position.
Both will serve in the APCM division of the Management Representation Group (MRG) which is elected by CAI membership in that category. Elected members give their constituencies a voice in crafting CAI policy and work to ensure that CAI continues to provide services and benefits that members need and value.

Carona is Associa’s president and COO. He holds a seat on Associa’s investment committee, serves as president of the company’s 501(c)3 charitable organization, Associa Cares, and has earned his CMCA, AMS and PCAM designation from CAI. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from Baylor University in addition to a Master in Business Administration from Southern Methodist University.
Merritt-Darden serves as the vice president of Associa Carolinas and will also serve as the 2016 North Carolina-CAI Steering Committee chairwoman. She has attained her CMCA, AMS, and PCAM designations from CAI and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Literature from the University of Texas at Dallas and a Master of Arts in Liberal Arts from Georgetown University.
