CHICAGO, Sept. 22, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The American College of Prosthodontists (ACP), through its awards program, formally recognizes five private practice prosthodontists whose contributions to the specialty or to the college are outstanding and substantial. These individuals will be honored on Friday, Oct. 23, at ACP’s Annual Awards & President’s Dinner. The event is held during the 45th Annual Session of the American College of Prosthodontists in Orlando from Oct. 21-24, 2015.

The ACP is proud to announce the following five recipients of the 2015 Private Practice Award:

Region 1 – Northeast – Private Practice Award – Dr. Steven Rothenberg

Dr. Rothenberg is in private practice in Darien, Conn. and has been there since April of 1983. In 2009, he served as the Vice President of the Connecticut Section of the ACP before becoming the section President from 2011 to 2015. He has been a big advocate of Dentistry as a profession and has welcomed many prospective dental students and dental students into his office to observe private practice.

Region 2 – Eastern – Private Practice Award – Dr. Robert M. Bentz

Dr. Robert M. Bentz is a board certified Prosthodontist and founder of Bentz Dental Implant and Prosthodontic Center in East Norriton, Penn. where he specializes in state-of-the-art dental solutions. He is a fellow and past PA delegate of the American College of Prosthodontists and has been recognized for contributing his time to the Task Force for Clinical Evaluators to help the College’s strategic plan maintain momentum.

Region 3 – Central – Private Practice Award – Dr. Kevin C. Kopp

Dr. Kevin C. Kopp is in private practice in Elmhurst, Illinois, where he specializes in prosthodontics concentrating on esthetic and implant dentistry. Before private practice, he held the position of Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry at the University of Illinois at Chicago for 20 years until his retirement in 2007. Dr. Kopp is board certified by the American Board of Prosthodontics.

Region 4 – Rockies/Plains – Private Practice Award – Dr. Gordon J. Christensen

Gordon J. Christensen is a practicing prosthodontist in Provo, Utah. He is also currently an adjunct professor at the University of Utah, School of Dentistry. Gordon has presented thousands of hours of continuing education globally, made hundreds of educational videos used throughout the world, and published widely. He is a member of numerous professional organizations.

Region 5 – Pacific – Private Practice Award – Dr. R. Bruce Coye

Dr. R. Bruce Coye has been in private practice in Newport Beach since 1975. A native of Glendale, Dr. Coye attended California State University at Long Beach, attaining his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology in 1967. He taught as a Graduate Teaching Instructor for another year before entering Northwestern University Dental School. Returning to California, Dr. Coye served a one year General Practice Rotating Residency at the Brentwood V.A. Hospital in Los Angeles, followed by a two year residency in Prosthodontics at the Wadsworth V.A. Hospital. He received his Certification in Advanced Fixed Prosthodontics in 1975.

Prosthodontists are specialized dentists with advanced training in oral health issues, who are committed to improving patient outcomes. From implants, crowns, veneers and tooth whitening, to full-mouth reconstruction, Prosthodontists specialize in digital dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, and sleep apnea solutions.

The ACP is the only prosthodontic specialty organization whose membership is based solely on education credentials. ACP members must be in or have completed an ADA-accredited advanced education program in Prosthodontics.
