AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands, Sept. 11, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — IBC (Hall 7, Booth #J20) — Avid® (Nasdaq:AVID) today announced that 800 Pro Tools® | S6 systems have been sold to leading studios, post houses, and sound companies worldwide. Additionally, the new S6 Master Post Module joins the recently announced version 2.0 software and S6 Joystick Module to give audio professionals even more advanced capabilities, delivering innovative new workflows and continuing the momentum of Avid Everywhere™ in the audio community.

“With 800 systems sold since its release two years ago, Pro Tools | S6 has redefined what’s possible in audio mixing by offering unprecedented control, power, and flexibility,” said Kyle Kim-Hays, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Avid. “The introduction of version 2.0 software and new mixing modules provides audio mixers with new workflow options and even more flexible control, delivering on the commitment of Avid Everywhere to help audio professionals create their best work.”

S6 version 2.0 software

S6 version 2.0 software offers mixers flexible new ways to manage the largest, most complex sessions, representing a major advancement in streamlining and simplifying pro mixing workflows. Mixers can quickly program layouts and navigate sessions to bring tracks onto the surface and do more with each mixing pass thanks to the new surface track management features. When combined, the new features in S6 version 2.0 remove the workflow complexity that traditionally comes with mixing large sessions.

S6 Master Post Module

The new S6 Master Post Module gives post mixers the advanced control they need to easily deliver the biggest, most immersive soundtracks:

  • Quickly solo or mute stems, individually toggle between playback and input modes, and punch in and out of record with two rows of 10 PEC/DIRECT paddles and switches.
  • Easily switch between monitors to quickly dim, cut or fold down a mix using dedicated monitor controls for post.
  • Easily control more than 200 tracks with VCA Master support on the paddles.

S6 Master Joystick Module

The S6 Master Joystick Module enables mixers to position sound anywhere within a room by providing dual non-motorized, touch-sensitive joysticks for hands-on surround sound mixing. A 3.2-inch TFT display shows current pan and joystick locations. Mixers can gain precision control over positioning, divergence, and more using two multicolor LED top-lit encoders, 16 panning mode switches with color LEDs, and other panning control switches. Plus, four OLED displays provide detailed visual feedback and info. The Joystick Module can also be used to control any other knob parameter on S6 to create a wide range of effects.
