HOLLYWOOD, Fla., Sept. 10, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The Women’s Choice Award® recognized a select group of 425 out of approximately 15,000 Extended Care facilities as America’s Best for 2015. By carrying the Women’s Choice Award seal, these facilities have been identified as those that women would highly recommend for their loved ones’ long-term care, rehabilitation, and nursing care needs.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Extended Care facilities include health agencies, nursing homes, hospice and residential care communities. The majority of individuals in need of this care are 65 years of age or older (American Association of Retired Persons)

The following elite facilities are among America’s Best for Extended Care and carry the Women’s Choice Award seal, signifying their commitment and passion for creating an extraordinary experience:

Atlantic Rehabilitation, Morristown (New Jersey)
Bancroft Convalescent Hospital, San Leandro (California)
Friendship Manor, Rock Island (Illinois)
Harmony Manor Skilled Nursing Facility, Winnemucca  (Nevada)
Hughes Health & Rehabilitation, West Hartford (Connecticut)

“One of the hardest decisions a woman will ever have to make is to choose a nursing home or extended care facility for a loved one. Reducing the risk of making the wrong healthcare decision is our mission,” said Delia Passi, CEO and Founder of the Women’s Choice Award.

The Women’s Choice Award qualifies facilities for this highly selective annual list based on robust criteria and an in-depth proprietary screening process.  The process utilizes data reported by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and identifies those facilities that meet criteria for resident safety, satisfaction and excellence based on factors that women value for themselves and their family members when it comes to treatment and a quality experience.
