PITTSBURGH, Sept. 10, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Experts in highway engineering from across the United States and top thought leaders from around the world will meet in Pittsburgh next week to collaborate and share highway engineering solutions to make our roads safer, commutes shorter and transportation systems better.

The Highway Engineering Exchange Program (HEEP), the professional organization focused on technology in transportation, will host the 57th annual International Highway Engineering Exchange Program (IHEEP) meeting in Pennsylvania, drawing upon the knowledge and advancements used at the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and agencies and individuals who are on the leading edge of transportation’s future.

“The world of transportation is changing and it is our role to be not only the ambassadors of change, but the creators of that change.” Indicated Denise Reis, President of IHEEP 2015 and PennDOT CADD Manager. “We are here to learn from each other as the world’s experts and lead in providing design and technology solutions to achieve better mobility, save lives on our highways and maintain secure highway networks.

For 57 years, IHEEP has promoted international, state and local highway organizations and partners to share best practices in engineering technology and software solutions. The conference provides the opportunity for PEER exchange, as well as exposure to the latest technological advances and solutions by gathering together experienced transportation engineers, technicians, officials, researchers and industry experts from primarily North Americana and Europe. This year’s focus will be 3D Modeling, design construction integration and digital project delivery, with keynote presentations focusing on autonomous vehicle technology, security and intelligence.

Attendees from state transportation departments across the country, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) , the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), many key software and technology companies, engineering firms, and transportation related agencies and organizations will attend the 2016 conference in Pittsburgh from September 13-17, 2015.

The 2016 Conference will be in Helena Montana from September 11-15, 2016 and the 2017 meeting will be held in Covington, Kentucky from September 24-28.
