PLANO, Texas, Sept. 9, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — My Possibilities (MP) is a Plano-based non-profit and continued education center dedicated to empowering adults with cognitive disabilities, whom they refer to as HIPsters – Hugely Important People. My Possibilities’ CREATE and Music Therapy Programs present the Revealing Possibilities Showcase, a public platform for the HIPsters to share their skills in performing and visual arts with the community. This event will take place on September 14th at the Plano Courtyard Theater from 5:00p.m. – 8:00p.m.

The night will begin with an art show in the atrium of the Plano Courtyard Theater. Paintings and one-of-a-kind prints will be available for purchase, and all art will be created by the HIPsters. Everything on display, including the limited edition prints, are for sale to help the school. Peticolas Brewing Company graciously donated beer to be served at the event and My Possibilities’ very own Catering and Culinary Arts Program will provide delicious tapas for guests that have been prepared by the HIPsters.

Following the visual arts show, entertainment will be provided. The programmed portion of the event will feature music performances from MP’s HIPsters, followed by nationally acclaimed Nashville-based singer-songwriter, Gabe Dixon. The evening will be hosted by magician Trigg Watson, who recently starred on the hit T.V. series, Penn and Teller’s, “Fool Us.” This event is open to the public; however, space is limited to registered participants. To register for this event or for more information, please visit MyPossibilities.org/Revealing-Possibilities. Tickets for admission are $50 per person, and with the use of the promotional code “HIPSTER” at checkout, you can get $10 off. Tickets will also be sold at the door if availability permits. The money raised from the showcase will be used to benefit the CREATE Program, the My Possibilities arts program.

Each week, My Possibilities serves 350 HIPsters and provides continuing education, vocational training, and therapy services for adults with cognitive disabilities such as Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and many others. “We have an important mission,” noted Charmaine Solomon, founder and chairman of the board at My Possibilities. “State funding for families with special needs adults is lower in Texas than in any other state, and the support we receive from the community during our fundraising efforts helps us provide a state-of-the-art facility and all day services for $20 per client per day. Our corporate sponsors, friends, neighbors and other concerned citizens in North Texas are the foundation of our program, and we deeply appreciate their ongoing support.”
