MISSION VIEJO, Calif., Sept. 9, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Professional Community Management (PCM), an Associa company, is undertaking the Palmia Water Conservation project in conjunction with the Palmia Master Association and the Santa Margarita Water District (SMWD).

Nearly one mile of recycled water pipeline will be constructed beneath the roadways connecting the community to the SMWD water treatment plant. The installation of the new system is expected to be completed before the end of the year.

“This project will reduce dependence on imported water from the Sacramento-San Joaquin Bay Delta and the Colorado River,” according to Palmia Community Manager Clint Warrell. “It will create a more self-reliant water system that converts potable water into reclaimed water.”

“One of the great things about this project is the fact that we will not be affected by any future water cutbacks or mandates,” says Palmia Board President Jon Goettsch. “The association is expected to save in excess of $20,000 annually in water costs since reclaimed water is less costly than potable water.”

Palmia is a master-planned 55+ active adult community consisting of 900 homes and is located in Mission Viejo in Southern Orange County’s Saddleback Valley, halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego.
