Dallas, Texas (August 31, 2011) – StockGuru Shines its Spotlight on Glowpoint, Inc. (OTCBB: GLOW), a leading global provider of cloud managed video services.  The Company announced yesterday three new key enhancements to its cloud managed video services portfolio for Cisco (NASDAQ: CSCO) telepresence customers. All of the new enhancements are available as a fully hosted cloud service from Glowpoint.  The Company closed on August 30, 2011, at $2.08, trading in a fifty-two week range of $3.00 – 1.75.

Enhanced services delivered via OpenVideo™ architecture, provide customers with expanded interoperability and wider support for desktop video solutions including Microsoft® Lync™

The enhanced services include:
  • Hosted Cisco telepresence infrastructure including the Cisco TelePresence Video Communications Server (VCS), Cisco TelePresence Video Communications Expressway, Cisco TelePresence Server MSE 8710 and Cisco TelePresence Movi for mobile telepresence
  • Enhanced telepresence interoperability with support for the Telepresence Interoperability Protocol (TIP)
  • Managed unified communications (UC) gateway solution based on the Cisco TelePresence Video Communications Server – including support for Microsoft Lync

Cisco TelePresence Infrastructure as a Service

Deploying Cisco TelePresence infrastructure in its points-of-presence across the world enables Glowpoint to offer cloud managed video services that allow Cisco customers to expand their video deployments to remote office and home office workers. It also allows customers to adopt video more rapidly by eliminating the expenses associated with purchasing, installing, and supporting telepresence infrastructure on their network.

“Expanding our cloud managed video services for Cisco customers continues to be a top priority,” stated Stephen Vobbe, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Glowpoint. “Telepresence and video conferencing customers continue to ask for increased interoperability and support for mobile desktop and unified communications applications delivered as a cloud service. We are delivering that with these new enhancements.”

Enhanced Telepresence Interoperability Including ActivePresence

Glowpoint recently reported a marked increase in usage of immersive systems within the company’s installed base, with customers logging over 48,000 hours of meetings on immersive telepresence systems in the first half of 2011 – an over 100% increase compared to the same period in 2010.

In response to this customer demand, Glowpoint has implemented support for the Telepresence Interoperability Protocol (TIP) utilizing Cisco’s TelePresence Server MSE 8710 delivered as a cloud managed video service, which allows customers using Cisco’s immersive multi-screen systems to connect directly to immersive systems from other manufacturers such as the Polycom immersive systems. Glowpoint’s TIP implementation for the MSE 8710 includes support for Cisco’s ActivePresence experience design. ActivePresence maintains the immersive telepresence experience for all participants in a multi-vendor call by providing support to connect up to 64 screens simultaneously with multiple screen layout options, including continuous presence or voice switched multipoint.

“Our immersive solutions continue to deliver a consistent and powerful in-person experience that exceeds customer expectations leading to increased usage,” said Randy Harrell, Director of Product Marketing from Cisco. “Cloud managed services that ensure the highest level uptime and meeting quality for our solutions are a key component to our continued growth in the marketplace and the adoption of the technology.”

Cloud Managed Unified Communications (UC) Gateway Including Support for Microsoft Lync

Glowpoint has also designed and deployed a unified communications (UC) gateway utilizing the Cisco VCS architecture that provides connectivity between high definition video conferencing systems and unified communications applications from providers such as Cisco, Avaya and Microsoft.  For example, Microsoft Lync users can utilize this service to collaborate over video with users of any standards-based telepresence or video conferencing system. This service also allows IT teams to leverage the expertise needed to effectively manage the complexity of integrating the video and UC environments.

“Because deploying and managing video requires specific expertise, the IT team that supports video with an enterprise is often separated from the team managing other unified communications applications,” said Darren Podrabsky, Vice President of Marketing and Channels for Glowpoint. “Our UC gateway solution delivered as a cloud managed video service effectively bridges that gap and enables companies to easily and confidently connect video with other unified communications applications.”

The enhanced services for Cisco unified communications solutions are available now directly from Glowpoint or through qualified partners.  They will be delivered via Glowpoint’s OpenVideo™ architecture, a consortium of technologies and processes that deliver the most flexible, high quality, reliable cloud managed video services across the widest range of video endpoint solutions.
