CALGARY, Alberta, Oct. 16, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Locally based COR.FIT announces the launch of the first ever Canadian Ninja League (CNL). The first of its kind in Canada, this new league will offer Canadian ninja athletes across the country a single source for all things Ninja Warrior in Canada. Providing programming suitable for all ages and abilities all the way up to high level training and top tier competitions. Qualified Canadian athletes will finally have the means to compete for spots in the Ultimate Ninja Athletic Association (UNAA) World Championships.

The Canadian Ninja League (CNL) opens its doors on Oct 27, 2018 for its inaugural competition at the grand opening of the new COR.FIT located at 77 Edmonton Trail NE, Calgary, Alberta.

“What’s really exciting about this is that for the first time ever Canadian athletes won’t need to look south of the border to find opportunities to train and compete in world class Ninja Warrior competitions,” says COR.FIT owner Kevin Halliday. “They will finally be able to find the challenge they are looking for right here at home.”

The CNL will bring Canadian Ninjas to the worldwide competition level. The CNL will be hosting the Canadian Championship in 2019 where finalists can move on to UNAA World Championships.

For anyone interested in the training and health aspects of the Ninja Warrior phenomenon, the CNL is currently in negotiations with a national chain to create Ninja Warrior training programs for all ages, genders and skill levels across the country.

The grand opening event runs from 12:00pm – 5:00pm and will feature a fun Ninja competition open to athletes ages 7 and up for boys and girls. Come play on some Ninja obstacles, also on hand speak with Ninja athletes who compete at the world’s level, or simply come cheer on our Canadian Ninjas and be part of the growing community!

Canadian Obstacle Race Fitness (COR.fit) was founded in Calgary on July 1, 2016 by Kevin Halliday. The original impetus for the company was to design a safe, effective and supervised environment, properly equipped to train weekend warriors specifically for obstacle race events. Now in its 2nd year of operation, Cor.Fit has expanded to 2 locations and has developed an active kids component that is currently housed in the WinSport Performance Training Centre. The sport of Obstacle Race Fitness is now one of the fastest-growing in North America, surpassing marathons and half marathons as a participation sport in both Canada and the US.
