LOWELL, Mass., Oct. 11, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Rapid Micro Biosystems, a leading provider of automated, non-destructive, rapid microbial detection, is pleased to announce the addition of Ed Ognibene as Vice President of Product Development. Ed will report directly to the CEO, Robert Spignesi.

Mr. Ognibene brings over 20 years of technology and product development experience with sophisticated scientific instrumentation. Most recently, he held the position of Director of Engineering / Systems Development at Waters Corporation in the Separation Systems division, where he successfully managed the R&D and Engineering teams from the acquisition of Thar Instruments, Inc., as well as the integration of these groups into the broader corporate development organization. Concurrently, Mr. Ognibene oversaw a major development program to replace a product line with innovative new systems. Prior to this, he was responsible for driving the development of novel industry leading chromatographic platform systems. Before Waters, Mr. Ognibene worked at SatCon Technologies, a MIT start-up, where he managed the Mechanical Engineering Group and was also responsible for Program Management and technology/business development.

Ed holds a PhD and MS in Mechanical Engineering from MIT and a BSME from SUNY Stony Brook.  Ed is a member of ASME, Tau Beta Pi, and Sigma Xi honor societies.
