Northrop Grumman’s Jose Borges Receives Luminary Award at 2016 Great Minds in STEM HENAAC Conference Celebrating “Excellence Through Diversity”

FALLS CHURCH, Va., Oct. 10, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) employee Jose Borges was honored for being an outstanding role model in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) this weekend at the 28th Annual Great Minds in STEM HENAAC Conference in Anaheim, California.

HENAAC recognizes the best and brightest STEM professionals on a national level who serve as role models to inspire young people to pursue technical careers with a focus on the Hispanic community. Award winners are peer reviewed and selected by a committee of representatives from industry, government, military and academic institutions.

Borges, a senior project engineer in Northrop Grumman’s Aerospace Systems sector has provided engineering leadership and guidance on C4ISR initiatives including electronic countermeasure programs. He helped form a diversity team early in his professional career called Young Employee Success Network which helped new employees engage more quickly into the workforce. At Northrop Grumman he helped start and lead the Hispanic employee resource group, and served as a mentor in the company’s High School Involvement Program which encourages students to pursue careers in STEM. Currently, he is an enterprise co-chair for the Connect1NG employee resource group which encourages an inclusive environment and promotes thought diversity.

In 2013, Borges received a National Diversity Star Award from the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Puerto Rico and a master’s in business from the University of Phoenix.
