AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 06, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — data.world today announced its participation in the White House’s “Opportunity Project”, a new open data effort to improve economic mobility for all Americans by putting data and digital tools in the hands of families, communities, and local leaders.
Through its participation in this historic program, data.world has developed the “Enhanced Opportunity Project Data Workspace”, a social and dynamic data collaboration environment for all Opportunity Project data from 11 federal agencies and 12 cities. This data environment makes it easy for data scientists, educators, civic technologists and citizens to find and use Opportunity Project data both within and across agencies and cities. All the data is normalized and accompanied by enhanced metadata and the context required to make future users of the data more productive. A live demo of the new Workspace will be included in The Opportunity Project event this afternoon at the White House.
“data.world and the White House share a powerful vision that open data can help build equitable communities and solve pressing challenges around housing, education, and transit,” said Brett Hurt, co-founder and CEO of data.world. “But, before it can create solutions, data needs to be usable. We are pleased to team up with the White House to make sure that Opportunity Project data can be easily found, used and shared.”
Launched in July 2016, data.world offers a data platform and community that makes it fast and easy to find and use data to solve problems. With data.world, people who work with data can quickly and easily discover, prepare, and share it, as well as effectively collaborate in real time to solve important problems.
