Falls Church, VA, Sept. 1, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — For the past six months, the General Services Administration’s (GSA) technology consulting group, 18F, has been pushing to modernize federal software development practices and the technology acquisition process. On Friday 18F announced that Three Wire Systems, LLC (Three Wire) earned a spot on the Agile Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA), a system that allows federal agencies to choose from a group of pre-approved vendors who specialize in agile development.

18F’s mission is to bring private sector standards into public sector projects, with specific focus on agile methodologies, rapid, iterative development, human centered design, and end-user research which results in robust, easy-to-use government applications.

Three Wire was among only 16 businesses to receive the award. The awards process required vendors to submit software prototypes based on public data sets, and to share work in a publicly available repository as a means of demonstrating their expertise in agile development. Three Wire was selected by completing three prototypes in a time-boxed 36-hour delivery cycle. Sprints were split into six and 12 hours, and a highly agile, cross-functional team produced prototypes using OpenFDA data. Click here to see Three Wire’s agile prototypes.

“The fact that Three Wire was selected for this contract award demonstrates our thorough commitment to agile methodology,” states Three Wire CEO Dan Frank. “This BPA allows us to offer the entire federal government the agile application development we’ve provided to the Department of Defense.”

Three Wire has also developed its own case management system, the Advisor Outcomes Platform, which is currently utilized by its wholly-owned subsidiary, VetAdvisor.
