NEW LONDON, Conn., Aug. 31, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The Berry Company, LLC, publisher of the new Frontier Local Shopping Guide, which features local businesses throughout New London, Middlesex and Windham counties, along with area baseball leagues, completed the first-annual Think Yellow, Go Green program to recycle outdated telephone directories. In conjunction with the new directory’s release, The Berry Company encouraged the community to deposit their outdated phone directories for recycling at area baseball fields and stay to cheer on the Connecticut Tigers and New London Little League teams during their games this summer.

The Berry Company is dedicated to ensuring there is a program to remove outdated directories when the new directory is released and teamed up with KC101 radio, Dodd Stadium, the New London Little League and Lowe Carting & Recycling to bring the environmental awareness program to residences and businesses of New London, Middlesex and Windham counties.

KC101’s Perez hosted a live remote broadcast event during opening weekend for the Connecticut Tigers at Dodd Stadium. Listeners who brought outdated phone books to the event for recycling received giveaways and prizes. Volunteers were at the event collecting directories and distributing information about the Think Yellow, Go Green program, including the recycling drop locations.

The New London Little League collected prior year telephone directories at a recycling bin at their playing field at Mitchell College, and they hosted a collection event to help collect even more directories at the end of their season. The outdated directories were also dropped off at a recycling bin at the Frontier Communications parking lot, Lowe Carting & Recycling and at Dodd Stadium.

“During delivery of the new Frontier Shopping Guide and throughout the year, The Berry Company is committed to protecting our local environment through recycling and to raising awareness about sustainability in the communities we serve,” said Ray Carulli, branch manager of The Berry Company in Connecticut. “We appreciate the support of the local residents and businesses in the area, who helped to bring our first-annual Think Yellow, Go Green program to life in Connecticut.”

Recycling and environmental sustainability are important year-round initiatives, so residences and businesses should check with their local recycling department for more information on recycling programs offered in their area.
