RESTON, Va., Aug. 27, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Constellis Group, a leading, global provider of security, training and managed support services, announced today that its chief legal officer, Juliet Protas, has been selected as a finalist in the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) National Capital Region’s 2015 Corporate Counsel Awards for the Outstanding Chief Legal Officer category.

The Corporate Counsel Awards honor the work of the region’s outstanding in-house practitioners and departments over the past year. Finalists are selected from a large pool of nominations submitted by the legal community at-large in response to an open call for nominations.

“Juliet has been profoundly instrumental in the integration of five major security and logistics companies into what is now Constellis,” said Craig Nixon, CEO of Constellis Group. “Most notable has been her efforts to ensure that our core legal, moral and ethical values became the binding ethos of the entire group.”

In addition to the legal and compliance functions, Protas oversees the contracts, facility security and human resources departments at Constellis. She previously served as the general counsel of Triple Canopy and became CLO in July of 2014 after Constellis Group and its subsidiaries were purchased by Constellis Holdings.

“One of the early employees of Triple Canopy, Juliet has provided leadership and counsel on all legal matters impacting the company since its inception and now provides that same level of dedication at Constellis,” continued Nixon. “As a result, she has been able to successfully steward a startup with just four employees into a billion dollar enterprise with more than 10,000 personnel worldwide.”
Protas has also been recognized for building an anti-human trafficking program at Constellis Group. Recently testifying at the UN about challenges regarding human trafficking in the security industry and ways to safeguard human rights, she was also invited to attend a roundtable event at the White House on the topic.

The regional chapter of the ACC, ACC National Capital Region serves the professional needs of in-house counsel in Washington, D.C., Virginia, and suburban Maryland. Winners of the Corporate Counsel Awards will be announced during a reception on Thursday, October 8 at The Ritz-Carlton Tysons Corner in McLean, Va.
