Like anyone else that has run web properties for about eleven years, we look at stats of our web visitors on a regular basis. The biggest news over the past three years of that time has been the ever increasing mobile browsing. I watch that closely, but that’s not what this is about today. Today I am really seeing an astonishing increase in the Mac operating system versus Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. the chart attached is the past seven days of browsing on our main domain. What amazes me is that the various Mac operating systems (combined) are nearly double Windows 8 and 8.1 combined. While there is no doubt that Windows 7 dominates our stats with 38.3% of hits during this time, the Mac OS is strong with 10.1%.

Remember, Windows 8 launched officially last year on August 1, 2012 to OEM manufacturers and on October 26, 2012 to the general public. That means you could have easily had a copy for over a year.

Personally, we bought one copy of Windows in the past year for a computer we use for accounting. We bought Windows 7 as we just did not feel like bothering with using what is marketed as a touch screen operating system on a computer we use with a non-touch screen.
