Good Morning Members,

Today we are picking MRI Interventions (MRIC) as our StockGuru Spotlight for Monday, November 12, 2012.

Our Rationale:

First, today’s news: MRI Interventions Appoints Robert C. Korn, Medtronic Veteran, to Head Global Sales and Marketing

Second, a Seeking Alpha post has it correct:

MRI Interventions is another company that has demonstrated earnings growth over the past few quarters and could potentially be on the verge of a breakout. MRIC has developed the ClearPoint and ClearTrace MRI-enhancing systems that provide medical professionals with real-time imagery during complicated procedures on the brain and heart, respectively. The company has been successful in methodically implementing the ClearPoint system into the field of brain surgery – attracting Boston Scientific Corporation (BSX) and Brainlab along the way – and proof positive that growth trends are in the works may be the stark increase in revenue generated by the ‘disposable items’ associated with ClearPoint procedures. That’s a key point to note for MRIC – the company not only receives revenue on the sale of its systems, but also on the related “disposables.” LINK

Third: The sell-off just cannot continue. Once I saw today’s release, we switched out a lesser pick to choose MRI Interventions.

About MRI Interventions:

Founded in 1998, MRI Interventions is creating innovative platforms for performing the next generation of minimally invasive surgical procedures in the brain and heart. Utilizing a hospital’s existing MRI suite, the company’s FDA-cleared ClearPoint® system is designed to enable a range of minimally invasive procedures in the brain. MRI Interventions has a co-development and co-distribution agreement with Brainlab, a leader in software-driven medical technology, relating to the ClearPoint system. In partnership with Siemens Healthcare, MRI Interventions is developing the ClearTrace™ system to enable MRI-guided catheter ablations to treat cardiac arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation. Building on the imaging power of MRI, the company’s interventional platforms strive to improve patient care while reducing procedure costs and times. MRI Interventions is also working with Boston Scientific Corporation to incorporate its MRI-safety technologies into Boston Scientific’s implantable leads for cardiac and neurological applications.
